We craft these trivets in our workshop with the intricate design that adorns our aunt’s house in Canada de Gilvrazino, in the Algarve. It is as if we have peeled the language from the house and invited it inside to adorn your table and walls, to write a new story.

Burel wool, from the Bordaleira sheep of Serra da Estrela, for centuries spun, woven and compacted for shepherds’ capes, is so dense that it becomes resistant to heat. Dyed and cut it resembles the colorful bas-reliefs of Algarve facades. The other face of the trivet made of cork, more slip-resistant, conveys the dense smooth texture of the cork oaks growing in the Algarve mountains.
